One night, Scarlet was backed up on a lot of work. The end of the quarter was coming up, and she was backed up on a number of papers that she had to file with the accounting department. Since she was extremely dedicated to her job, Scarlet decided to stay late one night and do all of the paperwork. By 7 o’clock she was the only person left in the office, with no end in sight. Scarlet had secretly hoped she’d be done by 9, when the cleaners started on the 6th floor.

Suddenly, Scarlet heard a noise somewhere near her door. She gasped. Her office light was the only one on the whole floor that was illuminated, casting a glow on Scarlet and her desk, but leaving the rest of the floor in darkness. When a shadow formed at her doorway Scarlet inwardly started to panic, but as it moved closer, she realized it was Brent.

“Oh geez, oh man, you scared the shit out of me” Scarlet cried out, the rare swear word escaping her lips.

“Oh I’m sorry! I didn’t even think about that. I just saw your light on and thought I’d come see you.”

“No, don’t worry about it, it’s fine. Just got my heart racing for a second there.” Rachel let out a small laugh. She got up and stood in front of her desk, leaving her piles of paper behind her. “What can I do for you at this late hour?” she asked.

Brent came over and stood next to Scarlet. He slowly moved his hands towards her and put them on her hips. “Well, to be honest, I was upstairs thinking about you.”

Scarlet didn’t make him move his hands. She closed her eyes. “What were you thinking?”

“About how much I want you.”

Suddenly, Brent’s lips were on hers. He leaned in and kissed her, his soft lips exuding a skill and confidence in his kissing style that left Scarlet breathless. She leaned into his kiss as he slipped his tongue into her mouth, slowly caressing and exploring her mouth.

The kiss made fire run through Scarlet’s veins. It had been so long since she’d had a boyfriend, or even a one-night stand.
